Requirements

• Expertise in Cisco unified communications (UC) technologies, including hands-on, end-to-end experience in production environments, including planning, designing, implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades, and deployment.
• A broad background including additional Cisco (such as routing and switching) and Microsoft technologies (such as Exchange and SQL server).
• Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience with Cisco CallManager, CallManager Express, Unity and/or Unity Express.
• Familiarity with Microsoft server 2003 and/or 2008, as well as Exchange server 2003 and/or 2007.
• Demonstrated strong documentation skills.
• Solid customer service skills.
• A true passion for learning and working with different technologies.
• The flexibility and adaptability to flourish in a dynamic small company culture.

Experience with the following technologies is strongly preferred but not required:

• Cisco routing and switching.
• Cisco products such as Aironet autonomous and/or lightweight access points and controllers, and Cisco PIX and/or ASA, wireless APs/controllers/mesh.
• Microsoft product areas such as SQL server, Active Directory, MOM, Terminal services/Citrix, Virtual PC/VMware, Group Policy, WSUS, SharePoint, Small Business Server.
• Development in ASP.NET or ASP.

A bachelor's degree and/or Cisco or Microsoft certifications would be a plus, although broad hands-on experience is the key to success in this role.The following certifications are preferred but not required:

• CCIE, CCVP CCNP, CCDA, CCIP, CCNA-Voice or CCSP.
• MCSE, MCTS or MCITP.

More About Your Role

If you're a good fit for this position, you already know most of what this job entails. However, to be sure we're providing a complete picture, here are some details.

You will join a team of ten Engineers and take direction from both the CEO and Technical Services Manager. While each Engineer has specialty expertise, everyone on the team takes pride in having a broad skill set.

The projects and activities you'll take on will vary quite a bit, from simple break/fix issues to a short three-day upgrade to a six-month implementation. At any given time you may have one larger and a few smaller projects/activities on your plate at any given time, and you may be the sole person involved or be part of a team of four or five.

Most of our clients come to us not only for Cisco UC products and services, but also broader solutions that may include servers, virtualization, or other technologies. Therefore we'll look to you to leverage your technical savvy to handle more than just the voice aspects. For example, if we have a solution adding Cisco voice to a wider area network, you may also handle routing and switching, and coordinate with the voice provider.

Our clients vary in size and need; some have large internal IT staffs and need us only for specific support, while others have no IT staff at all and depend on us for everything. Our customers are all within a 150-mile radius so you won't be traveling overnight often.

To excel in this role you will enjoy taking on steady stream of diverse challenges and have a strong thirst for learning new technologies and skills. You also will be flexible in your schedule; you may be on your way to one client and get a call asking you to stop by another client on the way. And, as you might expect, you'll work the occasional evening and weekend.
